Does cooking taste the same in all Ranges cookers?
A. The short answer is Yes! All ‘Traditional’ heavy build range cookers cook food in the same way. The differences are in how the fuel is burned; be it using the old fashioned and inefficient ‘continuous’ burner types or using the more highly efficient and controllable ‘forced draught’ burners.

How quickly does the Vintage heat up from cold?
A. Depending on the model type and number of ovens, a Vintage is ready to cook on in less than 10 minutes for the hotplates and 20-25 minutes to roast. Our central heating Vintage boiler is as quick and responsive as any good quality separate boiler.
Back to Questions

Can I use my existing pots and pans?
A. Yes, if your pots and pans are of good quality, are flat bottomed and ideally have a heavy machined base. We can provide at reasonable cost, a range of very high quality pots and pans range. Please call us.
Back to Questions

Can I grill and toast on a Vintage?
A. Of course! Grilling is done directly under the roof of the top oven, 10-15 minutes from cold. Toasting is achieved using a ‘toast bat’ placed directly on the left hand hotplate. Please phone our office with any queries.
Back to Questions

Can a central heating Vintage run an existing system?
A. Yes, the existing system would need to be professionally inspected by an installer familiar with the installation of modern high efficiency boilers. Typically, modifications maybe required to update the system to meet today’s energy and efficiency regulations.
Back to Questions

Are cooking only models available?
A. Yes, each Vintage has a cooking only model, offering from 2 ovens all the way up to 8 ovens! These Vintages are fuelled on either kerosene, diesel, bio-diesel or our new ‘All Electric’ models, which do not require a chimney and operate on a 13A supply. All of our Ranges can be left on ‘Continuous’ mode, stop/started from cold or operated from a programmer. A programmer is incorporated in most models.
Back to Questions

Are they noisy?
A. The Vintage Range is recognised as one of the quietest forced draught Range cookers on the market. This is due to our choice of equipment, high levels of insulation, superb build quality and because we supply outside air to the burners. Our customers often remarked about the ‘gentle purring’ sound when the burners are firing. The ‘All Electric’ models are totally silent.
Back to Questions

Will my local installer be able to fit a Vintage Range?
A. Yes, your installer must be suitably qualified. Upon delivery, our delivery man will position the Vintage, with a little help, into your chosen position. Our man is qualified to discuss some of the installation details with your installer if required. Our installation manual is available to download from our website. You are welcome to call our Technical Dept to discuss any queries you may have.
Back to Questions

Are they controllable?
A. Most modern traditional style Range cookers can cook and provide heating and hot water independently or all at once. Operating via a programmer enables you to time all functions to best suit your requirements.
Back to Questions

Will a Vintage work with under floor heating (UFH)?
A. Yes, but please seek professional advice before installing a new or connecting to an existing UFH system.
Back to Questions

Can hot water be mains pressure?
A. Yes, provided your system has been professionally installed and that the mains pressure can supply at the required pressure. If mains pressure is not sufficient or there is not space available for a hot water cylinder, we can supply a Vintage with a ‘Combination’ boiler incorporated.
Back to Questions

Will they operate on Bio-diesels?
A. Yes, we have been running a number of Vintages on bio-diesel for many years, with excellent results and performance. All Vintages are dispatched capable of running on kerosene or diesel. There are no major adjustments to make to your Vintage to change to bio-diesel. Please always contact us for advice.
Back to Questions

Do Vintage Ranges have ‘Condensing boilers’?
A. A central heating Vintage boiler, though classed as a ‘Conventional’ boiler, is a very efficient boiler, running at approx. 90/92% Net.
From 2014, in the UK, all Range cookers must be fitted with condensing boilers. The small improvement in efficiency with a condensing boiler should be evaluated against the increase in costs and installation requirements. That said, we have made adjustments to our boilers and will comply with this regulation.
Back to Questions

Can a Vintage be linked to other appliances—woodburners, solar etc?
A. Yes, your installer must be experienced in these systems to ensure a safe and efficient system.

Is the installation included in the cost of the cooker?
A. No, each installation must be quoted for individually. Always seek professional advice before commencing any installation work. If you have difficulty in obtaining an installer, we would be happy to quote for the work; anywhere in the UK or Ireland.
Back to Questions

What is the warranty on a Vintage Range?
A. We offer a ‘3 year parts and 1 year labour’ and a 5 year warranty on our boiler. This warranty is subject to the Range having been correctly installed, commissioned, serviced and maintained in accordance with our guidelines. The Range must not have been subject to abuse or misuse.
Back to Questions

What are the running costs for a Vintage Range?
A. The costs of operating a Vintage Range, dependent on usage and system characteristics is very economical. It is not possible for reasons cited above to be exact in this regard, but we guarantee you will be very happy with your running costs. As a rule of thumb, if you use as a guide a typical 4 bed two storey house, 6 occupants, reasonable level of insulation and ‘well cooked on’; you would estimate for 1 and a half fills of a 1200 litre tank per annum. That is 1800 of oil at say £0.60 per litre, £1000!

What is the story of the Vintage Range?
A. The Vintage Range is the design of John Cleary. John has been in the Range cooker and stove industry for nearly 30 years. It is true to say, cookers are one of his passions! Vintage embodies all the best in modern combustion equipment, materials and build methods.
John has worked in some of the industry’s best known companies; Waterford Stanley, Don Heating Products and Stovax. In 1999, John decided to create his own brand of cookers, these he called Heritage. He started his business in Cornwall and took great delight in its success. For reasons best explained in personal conversation, John started his new business, Vintage Ranges in 2006.
Vintage Ranges embody all of John’s innovations and improvements to produce a Range which is superlative on many levels. John likes to describe Vintage as, ’ a Heritage on steroids’*. No expense too great or spared, every detail and benefit incorporated to result in a cooker that performs effortlessly, with style and response.

*Vintage Ranges are pleased to announce that from Autumn 2011, we will produce the Vintage Traditional Range, this is a ‘plainer look’ Range and is an update on John’s earlier designs. Please phone for details.

How are Vintage Ranges different from their competitors?
A. Vintage Ranges are aesthetically distinctive from their competitors, the oven sizes are unique in their mammoth size, our hotplates are also massive.
All of these features combine to provide a cooker which is a Cooks delight.
Our build quality and heavy gauge materials again are above and beyond our competition. We want to make a statement, we want to build a cooker that will take the heat and keep going time and time again. We innovate and design as new ideas surface, we do this with passion. Call us today. If you have a particular ‘wish list’, let us know, we never say no!
